If you’re looking for something a little different to do with the kids on the Gold Coast, ArtVo at Robina Town Centre is guaranteed to have everyone laughing. It’s part art gallery, part photo opportunity, and completely interactive. Forget the “look but don’t touch” galleries. At ArtVo, you’re encouraged to jump right into the artwork. Pose with hungry sharks, hang from towering cliffs or ride giant waves as you make your way through six themed zones packed with incredible optical illusions.
One of the best things about ArtVo is that every visit is different. You can get as creative as you like with your poses, or simply follow the floor markers and pose guides to capture the perfect illusion. Before you know it, your camera roll will be overflowing with photos that will have your friends wondering, “How did you do that?”
The gallery is located upstairs at Robina Town Centre, right next to The Kitchens, making it an easy outing to combine with lunch, shopping or a treat afterwards. There’s stair access as well as a lift, and the spacious layout means there’s plenty of room to move around comfortably with prams or little ones.
The friendly staff give you a quick introduction when you arrive, showing you how the trick-art works and helping you nail your first few photos. After that, you’re free to explore at your own pace, although you’ll often spot staff wandering through the gallery and they’re always happy to help take a family photo if everyone wants to be in the shot.
Whether you’re visiting with toddlers, teenagers, grandparents or a group of friends, ArtVo is one of those rare attractions that genuinely appeals to all ages. We spent ages laughing at everyone’s ridiculous poses, and it’s one of those experiences that’s just as much about making memories as it is about the photos.
Allow around one to two hours to explore, depending on how many photos you stop to take. Trust me—you’ll stop for a lot more than you think!
Tips for getting the best pics:
✨ Follow the floor markers
The artwork is designed with a specific viewing angle in mind. Stand on the marked spots and line up your camera with the artwork to make the illusion work its magic.
✨ Get down low (or stand on something!)
Some of the funniest photos come from changing your perspective. Crouch down, lean in, or get the kids to pose dramatically to make the illusion look even more realistic.
✨ Don’t just stand and smile
The best photos are the ones where you get into character! Pretend you’re scared, surprised, balancing, escaping or interacting with the scene. The sillier the pose, the better.
✨ Use your phone camera’s wide angle
Many of the artworks are large, so switching to the 0.5x lens on your phone can help capture the whole scene and make the illusion more dramatic.
✨ Take a few shots from different angles
The first photo is rarely the best one! Move around, try different poses and take a few options before moving on.
✨ Let everyone have a turn being in front of the camera
It’s tempting to focus on getting the perfect kids’ photos, but make sure parents jump in too. Some of the funniest memories come from the whole family getting involved.
✨ Ask the staff for help
The team know the best angles and are more than happy to help take a family photo or suggest a pose. Don’t be afraid to ask!
