SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast is a family attraction that’s worth making the trip to Mooloolaba for, particularly if you haven’t visited before. While it’s not a local Gold Coast attraction, it’s a good option for a Sunshine Coast day out and the Ocean Tunnel, with sharks and rays swimming overhead, is a definite highlight.
The aquarium is home to a range of marine and freshwater animals including sharks, rays, turtles, penguins, seals, seahorses and jellyfish, with plenty of exhibits and interactive elements to explore throughout the attraction.
There are also regular animal talks and feeding sessions included with admission, including the popular Seal Presentation, as well as sessions at the penguin exhibit, Ocean Tunnel and Tidal Touchpool. Presentation times can vary, so it’s worth checking the schedule when planning your visit.
For families, there are a couple of extras that are particularly handy. There’s a dedicated Sensory Room, providing a quieter space for visitors who need a break, as well as a three-level indoor playground with climbing equipment, obstacles and a slide. SEA LIFE also runs different school holiday programs throughout the year.
Allow around 2–3 hours for a visit, depending on how long you spend at the exhibits and whether you stop for the presentations and activities.
