The weather is heating up and for us, that means p The weather is heating up and for us, that means playgrounds start to drop off the "to-do list", as they're just too hot to handle during our summer days. However, there are a few beautifully shady playgrounds that we find ourselves revisiting over Summer when we need that playground fix!! The playground and bike track at Runaway Bay Sports Precinct is one of these gems! With plenty of huge shady trees, a fabulous bike track with fuel pump, a small skate bowl, and a new playground, this park caters to all ages and abilities. Parents can easily find a shady spot to sit and watch, while the kids explore the mostly fenced play space (there are no gates, so while it's fenced, the access points are open). If you visit during library hours, be sure to pop in to the Runaway Bay Library for a reprieve from the heat, too (bathrooms and drink fountains are available here too!). Not my best month for reading, but still proud of Not my best month for reading, but still proud of the 8 books I did get through!! A hectic month meant less time for me, so hopefully October is a bit kinder 🙏 Lots of 4-5 star reads though!! This was a great month for good books. The brand new Wild Eyes by @authorelsiesilver was a highlight of the month and 5/5. Life's Too Short by authorabbyjimenez is an oldie, but part of a 3 book series (and Happy Ever Playlist in this series is my all time fave read) so I needed to go back and read this one!! 5/5! @beckamack.author is a new to me author and I am just burning through her books, I started #3 last night and they are all just SO good! A hockey romance with guys who aren't afraid to be nice ❤️ giving the series a 4/5. Cross the line, Not in love and Daydream were 3/5 reads, not sure if it was just my mood but the Young Adult fiction just didn't work for me this month - lots of tiktok social media stuff and college dramas 🥴 Parenting Revolution by @drjustincoulson, because he's one of my fave parenting experts and I found this on audiobook!! If you liked the tv show Parental Guidance, you will enjoy this one. I give it 4/5. #hotreads #romancereader #bookstagram #bookreview #whatiread

The last few days of the school holidays look to b The last few days of the school holidays look to be wet ones, so here's a few ideas to keep everyone busy indoors! 1- Visit @luminasensory at @robinatowncentre - it closes for good this Sunday! 2- Check out one of four new release family movies! Dendy Southport have their Family Tickets, or check out @sparkpoptribe for a $45 family Event Cinemas ticket. 3- @the.messy.place at Ashmore has spots available on Friday at 12pm, and Sunday at 9.30am. @thehubatormeau have $10 drop in play and messy play sessions on Friday and Saturday this week! 4- Shopping Centre school holiday activities wrap up this weekend. Check out @westfieldcoomera, @runawaybaycentre @australiafair and @robinatowncentre. @tweedmall is starting their sessions on Friday for the NSW school holidays. 5- Head to a storytime session at one of the @gclibraries branches. Helensvale, Ormeau and Southport run on Friday. Upper Coomera, Runaway Bay, Ormeau, Nerang and Elanora are on Saturday. The Minions are in town! The Mulch Minions, that i The Minions are in town! The Mulch Minions, that is. If you're unfamiliar, the northern Gold Coast cane fields host a popular Mulch Minion Trail each September to coincide with school holidays and the cane harvest. These cute creations can be found on the Exit 38 Tourism coordinated trail that takes you through Yatala, Stapylton, Alberton, Jacobs Well.and Norwell. Jump over to their Facebook page to find the link to the trail map. On until 24 September! Some tips: - as mentioned, it's cane harvesting time. Be mindful of tractors and other heavy machinery driving around and give them plenty of space. - some stretches of the trail are 100km/hr. If you have cars behind you, I suggest pulling over whenever it is safe to do so and letting them pass. There are a few good ones on that stretch and you will miss them if you go past too quick. - the map has points plotted to help you get around the trail via the best route. These plotted points are NOT where the minions are. You need to keep your eyes peeled as they can be ANYWHERE along the trail depending on who chooses to participate. - some of the bigger businesses on the trail didn't have their Minions out (ie. Yatala Pies) which was disappointing. Hopefully they make late appearances! - keep an eye out for snakes if you're getting in and out of the car, and be mindful of passing traffic. - @kingfishchips are the best on the GC, if you know what's good, you'll stop there on your journey 😉

Keeping my kids fed while they’re home all day is made easier by packing them a snack box and ensuring the snack drawer is replenished.
