MT FUJI 🏔 We spent 3 days in Fujikawaguchiko on MT FUJI 🏔 We spent 3 days in Fujikawaguchiko on our way from Tokyo to Kyoto. It's a quaint town in the northern foothills of Mount Fuji, surrounding Lake Kawaguchi which is one of the scenic Fuji Five Lakes, and home to many hot springs! We were absolutely blessed with clear skies and stunning views our entire stay (a huge benefit of visiting in December!). We hired a car here to help us get around, and spent some time in a nearby town called Hakone, where we visited the Hakone Open Air Museum (fantastic for kids), and tried the Black Eggs of Owakudani. Known to locals as "Jigokudani" (the Valley of Hell), it is famous for its black eggs, which are boiled in the sulfurous volcanic waters to give the egg shells a distinctive color. Eating one is said to add 7 years to your life! Definitely a highlight of our time in Japan so far.
Watching Christmas movies by the Christmas tree as Watching Christmas movies by the Christmas tree as a family is one of our favourite traditions! While we might not have snuggly weather like the northern Hemisphere, there's still something special about making a cup of hot chocolate and a festive Christmas treats platter and settling down as a family to watch movies together. To get you started with your Christmas movie viewing, here's a guide to festive movies currently available on Netflix, Stan, Disney+ and ABC Kids! What's your favourite Christmas movie? My kids are currently watching the new That Christmas on repeat!
Alexander Clark Park at Loganholme is a huge parkl Alexander Clark Park at Loganholme is a huge parklands filled with recreational options - a playground with water play, a bike track, basketball, volleyball, dog off leash area and access to the Logan River for kayaking and canoes. While it's just a bit outside of the Gold Coast region, the Australian themed playground is worth the drive! The centrepiece is a large Koala play sculpture, which children can climb through and engage with interactive panels, climbing opportunities and a large slide. Also included in this park is a water misting play area, which in theory kids can play in without getting too wet - however if your child is one for adventure and mess making, I'd pack some spare clothes! The misters lightly spray across the water play space, and there are a series of channels that fill up with pumps and kids can work to redirect the water flow around the space. The park also has a great bike path, with two small pump tracks off it. One of them is better suited to younger children, with a service station and bait shop for imaginative play. The other has a few more features for kids with more pump track ability to test themselves. TOKYO CITY it's been wild!! 6 full days explorin TOKYO CITY it's been wild!! 6 full days exploring this city of 10 million people. We loved Akasaka, Asakusa, Harajuku and Shibuya. So many contrasts between the stunning Autumn foliage and shrines, and the insane buildings and neon lights everywhere. We navigated the subway successfully (with a pram - no easy feat!!), and tried a few new foods although we weren't too daring and stuck to the safe stuff. Became Samurai and hubby won the Ninja challenge! Ticked our third Disney destination off the list and will never complain about crowds at the Gold Coast theme parks ever again 😆 I'll do a summary of our trip when we're back, but if you've got any Tokyo questions drop them below! Now we're off to Mt Fuji, bring on the REAL cold 🥶

The Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens is a hidden The Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens is a hidden oasis, tucked away from the busy Gallery Walk. After facing a lot of destruction during the Christmas 2023 tornado, the Gardens have finally reopened to visitors. There is still a bit of construction going on around the Gardens, so please be patient as they work to finish the remainder of works. Spread over 11 hectares, there are numerous garden areas and walks, but one that always wins the hearts of Gold Coast kids is Sooty Owl’s Creekside Trail. A family-friendly discovery trail, Sooty Owl’s Creekside trail will intrigue, surprise and educate children and adults alike. Follow a rustic path that leads through a Creekside gully, past a crooked water mill and an owl cubby house, over a number of bridges and alongside lots of hidden creatures to be spotted. The Thong Gong sits in the middle of this special space, where visitors can create musical tunes that may even call the birds. After exploring Sooty Owl’s Creekside Trail, why not venture through the other garden areas or have a picnic by the lake. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking, and the Tamborine Mountain Garden Club volunteers have done an incredible job establishing and maintaining this beautiful oasis for all to enjoy. November reads! 📚 @carrie.elks and Falon Ball November reads! 📚 @carrie.elks and Falon Ballard are both new to me authors who I really enjoyed! Lease on Love was probably my fave read this month. 🎄 I got started early on my Christmas reads. I usually love Mary Kay Andrews, but Blue Christmas wasn't as good as usual. Mistletoe & Mr Right was a fun, easy read and The Takedown had a good storyline (her sister is unknowingly marrying into a crime family) but really wasn't very Christmassy! 🧠 upped my self-help reading with 3 books instead of 1 this month! @drcaseyskitchen Good Energy is such a fabulous read that I actually went and purchased the physical copy after borrowing it from the library. The anxious generation has some really interesting facts and concepts around our children and technology. Finding Magic in the Mess was a bit disappointing, not sure the author actually has kids as the tips were very impractical for parents!! I hit my reading goal this month! I'm now at 105/100 books read for 2024 with 1 month left to go, woohoo!! #whatiread #bookstagram #bookreview

Did you know you can call Santa?? 🎅 Up until C Did you know you can call Santa?? 🎅 Up until Christmas day, visit any Telstra payphone and dial #HOHOHO (#46 46 46) and your kids can talk to the man in red himself!! From asking about the weather in the North Pole, to what the reindeer like to snack on before their big Christmas Eve adventure, the Free Calls to Santa hotline allows kids young and old to have engaging conversations with the jolly man in red. Fun fact: Every payphone has a unique number you can dial from your mobile. This is a great way to show kids what an old-fashioned phone sound like! My kids thought it was brilliant and that they were talking to Santa so it definitely didn't matter that it's not a real person on the other end!!
