Calypso Bay, Jacobs Well

I don’t know what’s better about this playground – the huge shade sails covering the entire space, or the amazing variety of play equipment designed to keep everyone busy!? Calypso Bay at Jacobs Well is well known by locals, but for those a little further afield, it makes a great family outing!

A nautical themed playground appropriate for its position by the water and down the street from the Calypso Bay Marina, here you’ll find a pirate ship brimming with bridges, wheels, slides and nets – be careful, you might even be asked to walk the plank! Underneath the pirate ship the imaginative play space is further extended, with a small shop counter set up, tunnel frames and other interactive game panels.

Given the playground sits on such a large area, there is a lot on offer here. The swing set with all abilities swing will be popular, as will the the spinners and hammock swing. There’s also a little boat for kids to pretend to fish or start the engine!

The grassy area around the park makes it perfect for a picnic or a bike ride, and you may even spot some of the boats and jet skis coming and going from the marina. If you want to make an outing of your visit, be sure to visit Harrigan’s Calypso Bay, the waterfront Irish pub that is next to the marina, which is family friendly and often has live music on a weekend.
