What most new playgrounds are missing is an essential ingredient when you live on the Gold Coast – shade. Some have shade sails, but most rely on shade from trees which have only just been planted and won’t provide the much needed cool shade for many years to come. This is why time and time again, I rely on the established playgrounds across the Coast. Pacific Pines Central Park is one of those beautifully shady playgrounds, with a nice breeze by the lake and play equipment for all ages (and a coffee shop across the road for the parents!).

The playground is separated into two areas – a fenced off playground for toddlers, and an open space spread across a few areas with different types of play equipment for older kids. Alongside the main entrance to the playground, you’ll find a large climbing net, a train with slides, and a boat to climb. A little further in and you’ll find your traditional playground structure with slides and some imaginative play. Paths perfect for scooting or bike riding weave throughout the playground and soon you’ll come across another climbing tower, swings, a flying fox and a climbing bridge (watch out for the crocodile!)

Families with little ones will be pleased to know that there is a securely gated toddler play area alongside the lake, filled with lots of things to perfectly cater for inquisitive minds. Play on the toddler slide, explore the cubby house, touch the sensory wall or bounce around on the diggers! There is lots of shade here and plenty of space for them to run around.

For those with big kids and bikes, there are some great walkways all the way around the lake, a full size cricket field and other sporting field space to kick a footy on. This playground is very popular on weekends, particularly for birthday parties, with great facilities including electric barbeques, covered seating areas, drinking fountains and toilets. Parking is super easy all along the main street too.
