Kids love playgrounds, parents love coffee – it’s a simple fact. The people behind Latte Lounge at Southport know this, and have created the perfect space that is drawing parents and children in from across the Gold Coast!
Tucked away from busy Olsen Avenue, Latte Lounge sits under the leafy trees on Griffith Way, next to Southport Church of Christ. Serving their house-roasted specialty coffee straight out of a shipping container, you can sit down and enjoy your coffee with a café snack at one of the many tables alongside the massive playground co-located with the café.
The playground is perfectly designed for all ages, with different sized equipment for various abilities. Kids can play on the 2 slides, climb the climbing frame, spin on the spinning wheel or play in the cubby house. Bring a ball and those who like to run have ample (fenced in) space to play. All of this is also covered by large shade sails, providing protection from the harsh midday sun.
Everything is family friendly, with ramp access for prams, gates to keep kids in, babychinos and a kids menu at the café, and access to the church facilities which include a parent’s room with a change table and a spacious and comfortable feeding room for babies. Attached to the church is also a very popular second-hand store, with a huge children’s section and many a bargain to be had.
With its central Gold Coast location, we love Latte Lounge at Southport for meeting up with friends. Easy enough to get to from almost anywhere on the Gold Coast, it’s the perfect play date location – parents get to have a coffee and chat, while the children can play safely. It’s hugely popular, but because of its size and available space, never feels overly busy or crowded.
