Family friendly Gold Coast events to watch for in 2024

There are so many events on year round on the Gold Coast, but there are a few in particular that capture the hearts of residents and are not to be missed. Be sure to add these to your calendar and make sure to take the family for a visit!

Kalbar Sunflower Festival: 19-21 April 2024

Grab your family and friends, and join in a fun weekend filled with live entertainment, helicopter rides, workshops for children, cooking classes, mini photo sessions, arts, crafts and much more. Sea Fire: 1 June 2024

Surfers Paradise becomes a playground of light, music and entertainment over two huge nights at SeaFire. SeaFire is Australia’s only international fireworks competition. Nations compete to take home the SeaFire Championship title, so expect to see dramatic, pioneering pyrotechnic displays fired off ocean barges and choreographed to musical soundtracks, lighting up ‘sea to sky’ over Surfers Paradise beach. Thrilling aerial spectacles spark each night’s entertainment and with plenty of pre-entertainment to enjoy, come in early and visit one of the precinct’s many inviting restaurants, bars or attractions, or park your picnic blanket in a prime spot for the fireworks. Mudgeeraba Show: 29 & 30 June 2024

Where Country Meets the Gold Coast, featuring Equestrian Events, Poultry, Goats, Chickens, Sheep, Cows, exciting Motorbike action, lego displays as well as FIREWORKS! Get up close and personal with cute animals, meet the farmers and exhibitors and taste delicious foods made from locally sourced ingredients! Watch in amazement at the woodchop, and enjoy the thrilling, two day equestrian program. Wander through the pavilions, check out the crafts and cooking, from honey to homebrew, lace to LEGO, fine arts to photography, and flowers to fruit sculptures and really explore the best agriculture has to offer. Scenic Rim Winter Harvest Festival: 29 June 2024

The Winter Harvest Festival is the Scenic Rim’s signature event where you can experience Eat Local Month in one glorious, flavour-filled day! Our Scenic Rim Food Ambassador chefs, growers, producers, and flavour artisans come together to showcase the region’s culinary treasures through engaging displays, workshops, and cooking demonstrations. Swell Sculpture Festival: 6 – 15 September 2024

SWELL is Queensland’s premier outdoor sculpture exhibition, set along Gold Coast’s Currumbin Beach. SWELL is a 10 day manifestation of conceptions and visual commentary presenting small, medium and large-scale sculpture installations, workshops and activations as a FREE outdoor gallery at Currumbin Beach. Kids Take Over: September school holidays 2024

Kids Take Over is back in 2024 and taking over during the school holidays! With a program bursting indoors and out, Kids Take Over is designed for kids and by kids, and features a combination of free and ticketed workshops, visual arts experiences, performances, and everything in between. It’s the ultimate memory-maker, boredom-buster, and creative play festival for kids on the Gold Coast. Wonder: Coming Oct 2024

Wonder returns to HOTA in 2024! Experience 10 days of Wonder as HOTA celebrates large-scale art and performance in the outdoors. The 2023 edition of Wonder saw Borealis by Dan Acher illuminate the night sky and envelop the Outdoor Stage in colour, light, and sound. More info:
