Ron Short Park, Southport

A fenced playground with a coffee shop across the road? Yes please! Ron Short Park in Southport was updated in 2022 with a new playground and covered seating, making it now a delight for those who love to climb. The final cherry on top – there are public toilets too!

A bright purple and yellow playground, here you’ll find nets, monkey bars, rope bridges and plenty of platforms to climb between. Best suited for children over 3 years of age, there is still a few things to do here if you don’t have a climber. There’s also a swing set, rockers and interactive panels.

This playground can get hot in the morning when it has the eastern sun on it, however later in the day it is shaded from the trees on the western side.

Located opposite the Alicia Street shops, you can grab some takeaway lunch or a coffee and head on over to the park. Bring a picnic blanket and set up under the trees, or make use of the picnic shelter by the playground. There is a large sports field beside, as well as some outdoor exercise equipment. In addition, there are public toilets located just a short walk over the other side of the park.
