If you haven’t yet heard of the Pimpama Sports Hub, you will soon! It’s a state-of-the-art aquatic centre with Olympic-standard swimming pool, netball and tennis facilities and heaps of other recreational and sporting options. It’s being built on a 14-hectare site and will have a large events space for things like Carols by Candlelight, markets and an outdoor cinema.
Stage 1 recently opened, featuring the netball courts, the event space and a new community playground! It integrates with the main sports hub and will have barbeques and picnic facilities once the entire facility is complete at the end of 2021.
The playground features two main components – a large tower and a toddler play structure. There is also a swing set and a few rockers and spinners scattered around. The playground is mostly covered with shade cloth, but in the middle of the day there isn’t much shade around the playground if you’re sitting and watching unfortunately.
Ideally I would suggest children aged 3 years and over are best suited to this playground. There are a lot of climbing sections and younger children could easily get stuck or fall through some of the gaps in the nets. Older children will have a great time climbing to the top of the tower and taking the tunnel slide down though!
It will be great to see the Pimpama Sports Hub as it evolves and comes into its full functionality! Such a great new space for the community.
Need to know:
- Location: The Pimpama Sports Hub is located on Rifle Range Road at Pimpama. Once complete, the only vehicle access to the site will be via this entrance. While construction is ongoing, the Rifle Range Road entrance is open, however the only carpark you can access is near the tennis courts and this is a fair walk to the playground. Until the Aquatic Centre opens (and its carpark), you are best to access the playground from Bull Road.
- Facilities: At the moment there are no facilities available. As the precinct opens further, toilets and BBQs will be available.
